Why won't my Cub Cadet auger engage? ›

If the V-belt is worn out, misadjusted, or broken, the auger won't turn. Inspect the V-belt to determine if it is broken or worn out. If the belt is broken or worn out, replace it. If the belt is not broken or worn out, ensure that the belt is properly adjusted, and adjust the belt if necessary.

How do I drain the gas from my Cub Cadet snowblower? ›

Drain any fuel left in the tank using the siphon pump. A siphon pump can be purchased on cubcadet.com. With the help of another person, carefully pivot the snow blower up and forward so it rests on the auger housing. This will allow you to easily access the parts of the snow blower that require maintenance.

To engage the auger, a spring-loaded idler pulley and belt are used. When the bail arm is engaged, the idler pulley tightens the auger drive belt around the drive pulley causing the auger to rotate. The auger blades will then collect the snow and throw it out of the chute in one motion.

A broken shear pin is the most common reason the snowblower auger won't turn properly so replace any broken shear pins. Worn or loose belts also prevent the snowblower auger from spinning. Check and adjust the belts and replace any broken or worn belts when you see the snowblower auger not turning.
