Swansea, was killed Thursday when motorcycle ran into a cable stretched across the road at a ball park, just outside the city limits. Lexington County Coroner B.

B. Shumpert said that the youth died from internal injuries received when the cable hit him in the chest, causing the motorcycle to go out of control and land about 12 feet from the wire. The cable had been put across the road to keep people out of the ball park, Shumpert said. Young Segars was born in Richland County and had lived in Mt. Pleasant until a year ago when he moved to the Swansea community.

He was a son of Mrs. Mary Cooley Segars of Swansea and Hugh Robert Segars of Valdosta, Ga. A member of Swansea United Methodist Church, he was in the seventh grade at Swansea Middle School. Surviving are his parents; and his grandmother, Mrs. T.
